Maria SABEY from Blunham

Whilst looking at the Ushers from Sandy and Cople I came across the marriage of Henry Usher to Maria Sabey in Blunham on 21 Oct 1832. Maria was buried in 1838 (don't have exact date, my NBI CD is cracked) in Blunham age 25 having baptised a daughter Mary Ann Usher on 31 May 1835.

She's new to me! I can't find a baptism for her and whilst I have a theory or two, I don't know who her parents were. In all probability she was a daughter of one of the children of Tingey Sabey who baptised a number of children in Blunham, most likely John Tingey Sabey who married Elizabeth Clark on 30 Jun 1811 but whose first child wasn't baptised in Blunham in 1819.

If someone is bored with sitting in the garden watching the leaves drop off the miniature acer could kindly have a look in the Archives to see who the witnesses were at the 1832 marriage.

If she's who I think she might be then she'd be my 3rd cousin five times removed so she's very vaguely connected to me!

Morning,  my NBI not as cracked as you are/yours is.... the burial is on 20 May 1838

Archives not open on Thursday so will look tomorrow or next week; meanwhile.... I've been looking at the Blunham with Moggerhanger PRs & I notice baptism on 21 Jun 1812  of Maria daughter of John & Elizabeth Tingey born May 25th; can you account for this girl or could this be a mistake in the register

Brilliant John. I think you've cracked it.  The father was John Tingey SABEY and it looks as though either the PR has missed off Sabey, or the transcription has. More likely the PR is in error. I'm sure that this is the right family.

Thanks also for the burial date - I must do something with the FFHS to see if they'll replace the CD for a nominal figure.

Bob had to blow in the bag a few weeks back. On the limit, so €90 and 6 points!

Witnesses at the John Sabey/ Elizabeth Clark marriage of 30/06/1811 were Harry Clark & William Jacobs?

I saw another Blunham marriage on 28/07/1833 of Thomas Sabey to Ann Richardsgon; witnesses William Sabey & Henry Clarke
