My great grandfather Martin Parkinson (or know also as Perkinson) married Maryann Power sometime between 1848-1868.He left Roskelton in Queen's Co., Ireland to go to California c. 1848 for the gold rush. We know he married Maryann, we do not know where she came from or where the marriage took place. Any chance it could have been in California and if so where do I look? They both appear in Tramore, Co. Waterford around 1860's for birth of their first son. Any help welcome.

Can't see Martin listed but you could try spelling variations.

Would you know his approximate year of birth, please, and that of Maryann?

Also, would you know his occupation, please?

a little late to the party but I would be interested in information you have on this as  I am the great - great - great grandson of  martin W parkinson through james Joesph parkinson ( pretty  interesting guy in  his own right).  My father still alive at 90 tells an interesting story about martin apparently he had to find his gold twice the first time his partner stole his share from him  - the night before his ship was set to sail from San Francisco...

JMCKENNA, Only saw your response now (26th. May) - I think we spoke 2 - 3 years ago when I did most of my research. Would love to arrange to meet and share information. Am living in Kilkenny but can meet in Dublin if necessary. Please advise. Would be most interested in those ''golden tales'' as I have no knowledge of those and other stories / facts.
