Hugh O'Malley McLaughlin b1870
« on: Tuesday 18 February 14 05:10 GMT (UK) »
Hi, I'm looking for any information of Hugh O'Malley McLaughlin b 30 Dec 1870?? Letterkenny, Donegal. His parents were James McLaughlin and Susan Crampsey or Cramsie. I would love any information that I can have on this family. Hugh came to Australia and met and married a lass in Qld. whose parents also came from Ireland. They don't like family research to be easy.
Thanks.

Hi,
Familysearch.org suggests that the christening took place in Manorcunningham Co. Donegal and the birth date agrees with yours. James and Susan also had a daughter, Sarah, on 30 Dec 1873.

Just found immigration records for Hugh and his brother James McLaughlin b 1867 approx. No other information about him. Can't find birth records for him but on his death record, he has the same parents. No mention on where he was born in Ireland.

Ages in records aren't always correct- your first post giving Hugh's birthdate is an example- so it's possible that James would have been born before the start of birth registration in Ireland (1864).

Kathleen, my McLaughlin's are from Dunross and Gortinarin near the St Patricks Aughaclay church. Are your McLaughlin's from the same area as well?
