Sandra,

I was wondering where you found the info about George Tyrrell being the one who died in 1836. I have found a few newspaper articles that mention a man called Tyrrell but there is never a first name listed. Have you got a source that verifies that it is our George Tyrrell?

Thanks,

Linda

Thank you  Annette though I have to say that corrections given with a little less 'tartness' would be accepted all that more readily.   At my age I resent having my hand metaphorically slapped by anyone.
My apologies if I misdirected you Linda.  The Tyrrell's are a small branch of my tree so not researched anywhere near as much as they should have been.

Sandra

Why not JUST say "thank you" to Annette, and not look for the last word?

It's not the fault of Annette that info, and reviewing that info, needed correcting.
It's not the fault of Annette that you find it hard to receive advice, what you call a "slap on the wrist".

Thanks to the free effort provided by Annette, your family tree is more correct than when you initially asked for help.

Found this in the National Archives and it looks interesting.  Wish I had access to the actual document. Does this prove that George was still alive at that time so not the one killed in the accident?:

Just in case it comes in useful in the future . . . . .

The name Tyrell is "very similar" Tearl(e), Turl, etc..
[ My own extended family includes Tearle ]

There is a book about the Tearle name although based, but not exlusively, around Bedfordshire.
It is worth a read.

Famous Tearle (english) names include Godfrey Tearle (actor)
Famous Tyrell (english) names include Ken Tyrell (F1 driver and car creator)

It is worth doing a search on Rootschat for the names and reviewing what you get.

Sandra, that was a good find. I wonder why his Father would have enlisted under the name James instead of George? Maybe if we can track George's service we may find more about when he died. I find it really annoying tracing English service records. Australian ones are so much easier as a lot of them are free to view.

Linda, Great news.  I have recently joined the Tyrrell Family History Society (free) and one of their members links you to a Tyrrell Family Tree or builds one for you.  He came back to me with a transcript directly from the Shoreham Parish Records which confirms that it was George who perished off the coast of Goring in Sussex and that he was 46 when he died.  It seems that all three coast guards bodies were recovered and buried within two days of each other.
John, my link there has sent you an invitation to join the group at http://www.tyrrell-fhs.org/
Click on the JOIN HERE at the bottom of their page.  Might take a couple of days as they are all volunteers. Kind Regards Sandra
