Ray sisters emigrated 1920's??
« on: Sunday 23 February 14 15:40 GMT (UK) »
My great grannys two sisters moved to South Africa in we think 1920's.

Rosa Ray born 1892 Staffordshire
Beatrice Theresa Ray born 1894 Staffordshire

I have found these on NASA

1930 Illiquid case William Webb versus Rosa Webb (born Ray)
1931 William Webb, surviving spouse Rosa Webb (born Ray)

1950 Illiquid case, resolution of conjugal rights. Hendrik Barker and Beatrice Ray Barker born Stafford

I don't know if these are my Rays, can anyone help with where else I can go to find more inforamtion about them. I don't even know what date they went out on, or why?!

There was a visit over here in 1970's from a Vona Davies, I'm assuming she was a daughter of one of the sisters. And we have an address and a PO box to her. She lived in Durban then.

Any help will be very much appreciated
thanks

I've just gone on what I've been told.
But that does fit with her age and there is no other Rosa Ray born the same time on freebmd??
Any sign of Beatrice on the same ship?

Hi please contact me as my mother's grandmother was Ray and also from UK.  She emigrated here to South Africa and there were 3 sisters we believe being Rosa, Beatrice and Hilda Ray. My mum has much more info and even pictures i believe. Would be great to puzzle these pieces together. Vona Davies was my mums first cousin and her mother was Beatrice Ray.

Miss Rose Ray is at the top of the page on her own (no Ray names following hers)

In 1913 there's a Miss R Ray age 21 domestic travelling from London to Cape Town but again no other Ray names.  Plus there is a mark in the Scotland column for her and without knowing her first name not looking hopeful.
