Now then, James Baxter.
I have found a marriage for a James Baxter who may be the James in the 1911 Census Canada. He is living in the same area as the Charles and William I posted about above.
The marriage of James Fleming (transcribed Henning) Baxter, 20, Bachelor, a Gardener, of Humber Bay, County of York, Ontario, b. Scotland to Mary Violet Guzuk, 18, Spinster, of New Toronto, b. U.S.A. took place at 96 Portland St, Mimico, Ontario on 28 Nov 1923.
Father of the groom John Baxter b. Scotland
Mother of the groom Margaret ? (footnote states "Groom was left an orphan while an infant and knows very little about parents")
Bride's parents John Guzuk b. Russia and Doris Gouth.
Witnesses Helen Johnston of Mimico and Jack Blenkhorn. It is too bad one of the Shands wasn't a witness.
The evidence that this is the same James Baxter as in the 1911 Census is circumstantial but if records are available there should be enough info here to be able to trace the birth of this James Baxter and the circumstances that orphaned him. That he is down as 'nephew' on the census is intriguing but it is a term that is sometimes used for other relationships. On the other hand perhaps you may turn up a relationship.
