He died in Ashton under lyne

A death entry will not tell you what his mothers maiden name was.  Have you followed the advice given earlier re: looking for his 1912 birth on Scotlands People

So you should now be able to download his birth cert from SP which will give his mothers maiden name.  If his parents married in Scotland - you can look for their marriage on SP to get their respective parents names and mothers maiden names

There is one entry on SP for an Alexander Young born 1912 Aberdeen.

Have you downloaded that entry?  Who were the parents?

If we go back to the beginning - something I forgot to ask.  Where did you get his fathers name from and how do you know he was baptised at Hexham as you have a question mark after that part?

What year did he die as I can't see any death for an Alexander Michael Young in Ashton under Lyne

His 1951 marriage shows him just as Alexander as does his death reg - no middle name.

I now know that his fathers name came from the 1951 marriage cert (per your pm) and you think he was still alive at that time.  However - whilst that may be correct - the fact that he is not specifically shown as deceased is not proof positive that he was alive.

The baptism in Hexham apparently came from Alexander himself

Do you know where the middle name of Michael came from?

Do you know if Alexander had any younger siblings who may be on the 1901 census to help narrow down exactly which Peter Young was his father

If his siblings were born after 1901 - you would have to look them up on the 1911 census on SP

For continuity purposes - the following info has been exchanged in pm's between myself & Lin

His death reg in 1998 shows no middle name of Michael - birthdate 23.4.1913

As he said he was baptised in Hexham - this birth was a possibility

Births June qtr 1913
Alexander Young mothers maiden name Bell    Castle Ward (Northumberland)    10b   711

However - Lin has been advised by the GRO that this Alexanders father was George

Still awaiting info re: siblings

Hi Lin and Carole

Just as by and by's...not sure whether it will connect.

There is a marriage showing in Hexham (10b/629) in 1898 between a Peter Young and an Sarah Elizabeth Het(h)erington.

What was the occupation of Peter, Alexander's father, from his marriage cert? The Peter I have been looking at in Northumberland looks to be a steel moulder. The family in 1901 in Hexham area:

Peter Young 28 b. Hexham
Sarah Elizabeth Young 23 b. Alston, Cumberland
John Thomas Young 2 b. Acomb, Northumberland
Peter Young 1 b. Acomb, Northumberland
