Arnold Ainsworth Blackwell b1891
« on: Saturday 08 March 14 18:01 GMT (UK) »
Hey All,
Would someone be able to help me. I am trying to track down a death for Arnold Ainsworth Blackwell.
He was born in 1891 in Brindle, Lancashire and he got married to Phoebe Maria Hewins in 1921 in Chorley. I have found a death for Phoebe in 1977 but cannot find anything at all for Arnold.

Hope someone can help :)

Michael

What was his occupation on the marriage cert?  Latest census has him as a joiner but he then served in WW1 so may have changed occs.  If he became a seaman - he may have died at sea

I notice they only had one child who wasn't born until 1929 and there are 2 public trees on Ancestry but neither have any info as to his death

Michael,

Do you have Phoebe's Death Certificate?

That will tell you whether she was 'wife' or 'widow' of Arnold. You will then at least know whether he died before or after her.

Hi Michael,

I am not suggesting the death certificate will have the answer --- but it will give you the location of her death and the date of death.

You could then contact the local cemetery to see if her remains are buried there -- and whether Arnold is in the same grave. (They may charge you a small fee for a look up). Her date of death will give them some idea of where to look in their records.

Forgive me if you know this, but you can order the certificate on line from the General Register Office at Southport (irrespective of where in this country anyone died).

You will need the following details;
Name
Q/E and year of death
Volume Number
Page Number

These details can be obtained by looking up her death on the FreeBMD website.

Regards June

Hi Michael,

I should be able to help - I'm his grandson.  Are you related to Victor Blackwell?

Best regards

Simon

Hi Simon,
Arnold Ainsworth Blackwell (b 1 Mar 1891) would have been my 2nd cousin 2x removed. I have him married in 1921 at St Peters, Chorley to Pheobe Maria Hewins and have one child for them Margaret Walters Blackwell in 1929.
I have a death for Pheobe but am at a loss of what happened to Margaret or Arnold. I found a probate record for an Arnold Ainsworth Blackwell in Ireland, Dublin I think.

So you are Arnold's grandson?

Michael
