Inquest at Bedwelty

Can anyone advise where I might obtain a copy of an Inquest into a Death held at Bedwelty in 1853?

Hi kitman,

The person concerned is JOHN MALSON my second great grandfather. The accident happened on 15th February 1853. I understand the Inquest was held on 17th February 1853 at Bedwelty, the informant being Coroner, W. Brewer, Aberystruth. His death was registered on 29th March 1853 and his Death Cert records him as a Railman, however, on his Marriage Cert of 11th May 1851 it records him as a Fireman. He lived at Manest/Mannace Row, Rhymney.

Any help would be greatly appreciated. Regards, David

I understand, Graham, a co-researcher has already done this without success. David

I see no inconsistency in the Railman/Fireman occupations. On the footplate of a steam engine there were two people - the driver and the fireman. The fireman was responsible for keeping the fire stoked and steam  up.

I agree with your reckoning, brentor. I was just trying to highlight the difference in the two descriptions. I wasn't necessarily saying they were inconsistent with each other. David
