Signing in to Rootschat.com
« on: Monday 17 March 14 15:24 GMT (UK) »
Nearly every time I log on to Rootschat.com I see the message that I am a guest and not signed in. I log in and have ticked the box to keep me logged in, but if I leave the site and come back to it, I need to log in again. Sometimes it changes while I am still using the site.  Can anybody explain how I can keep logged in?

Wooh that's a bit of a pain!  :-[

The way that websites keep people logged in by "remembering them"is by using cookies.

http://www.rootschat.com/forum/index.php?topic=15431.0

It may be that these cookies are being lost or blocked in some way on your computer.

Also, sometimes, if you use different devices (phone, tablet and PC) and they are all synchronized together (using Google account for example) then that can then lead to you being logged out if you log out on one of your devices.

Also, in a similar way if you logout in one window you will find that you are logged out of all of them.

Thanks Trystan, I only use a laptop so no confusion with other devices. I used your link and I am accepting cookies.  I guess I will just have to put up with it.
Thanks again

Pat,

Can you copy-and-paste the address that you see in the address bar in this topic please so that I can have a look at it please?

It's the one in the white box at the top.

Thanks,
Trystan

Thanks Pat,

Thanks for that. Oh, the link wasn't what I was suspecting - I thought you might have a really long link in there with "PHPSESSID" in it an a load of numbers after it. Do you ever see that at all when you look at the address bar?

I've never seen that, but I must admit I don't really look at that bar.  I am not technically minded and a very senior citizen, so if it works I don't look any further.  Thanks for looking.

Hi Trystan, when I logged in this morning, I was told I was a guest, but this was the entry in the address bar - http://www.rootschat.com/forum/index.php?PHPSESSID=sja5bicgc2kaqb1592r9hhore4&action=login
I think that's the one you were talking about.
