Mary Mead in Middlezoy 1841 census look-up please

Hi all, I would be grateful if anyone can spare the time to look-up Mary Mead in Middlezoy 1841 census for me.  Have a FreeReg burial for Mary Mead aged 88 in 1843 which should make her 86ish in census or rounded down to 85.

As my Thomas & Mary Mead were in Middlezoy and there is a FreeReg burial for Thomas aged 65 in 1823 which is a good match for his birth, I wondered if this burial could be Thomas's wife.  Problem is her death age would make her a bit old to be having children 1799-1808.

So interested in her census age to see if there is a great discrepancy or not and interested to see who she is living with - I know family relationships aren't shown but she may be listed in a household whose name mean something or not.  Many thanks.  Regards, TonyR.

I can't see Mary in Middlezoy at the moment, but there is this Mary in the nearby village of Ashcott.  Listed as a shopkeeper and with these Marshalls living in the same house.  All born in County

Hi Kay99, thanks for those.  The Marshalls in Ashcott doesn't ring a bell.  The George Mead in  Othery who may be the Mary's son in census, is not a forename I have come across in this family (yet).  I cannot see an obvious birth for this George on FreeReg so maybe he does belong to my Meads, there's room for him.

Perhaps I should have included Mary's children's names, there was Mellier 1791 Othery & rest all baptised Middlezoy - 1799 Jonathan, 1805 Mary Ann, 1805 Honor and 1808 Thomas.

My ancestor is Mary Ann (1805) who married Joseph Day 1833 in Middlezoy (have all info I need on them).  It looks like Jonathan married Mary Hobbs 1829 in Middlezoy – children all Othery, Jane 1829, Charles 1831, Mary Ann 1833, Elizabeth 1835, Charles John 1838.  Cannot see any obvious marriages or deaths for Honor or Thomas but Mellier seems to have been a 'free spirit' with 3 illegitimate children between 1814-1820 in Middlezoy.   Thanks again, it's appreciated.  TonyR.

Nearby villages

Middlezoy has you know, but you've also got

Burrowbridge (3 churches here one non-comformist) Stathe, Oathe which around Othery and middlezoy, slightly further away is Westonzoyland, and Stewell and Moorland/North Green moor an in the other direction you've got Aller and Langport

Hi Jo, thanks for the info.  At the moment I use & rely on FreeReg for checking parish records so can only view what they have transcribed.  I know some records I'm after will be in the untranscribed ones, so it's a case of waiting or asking for help on here.

I was hoping that Mary Mead might be with someone I recognised.   Problem is that Mary who died in 1843 aged 88 is a bit old to be having children in 1808, so I really need to try & find a younger Mary Mead in the area in 1841.

Just wish I lived nearer to Somerset archives so I could spend a few days searching for records in there.  Thanks again.  Regards, Tony.
