Grave in Ops Township
« on: Monday 28 April 14 16:20 BST (UK) »

I have found the following death but have never heard of Ops Township. Could it now be part of Lindsay ?

The death is :- John Connolly who died 28 January, 1902 in Ops Township, Victoria County, and is believed to be interred in St Mary's Roman Catholic Cemetery.

I am seeking confirmation of the location of this grave and would like to know if there is a headstone that I can photograph.

Hi,

Ops Township included Lindsay and its surrounding area.  Here is a map

Looks like the cemetery is in Lindsay.

There is contact information here.  Hopefully, they can confirm that John Connolly is there and whether there is a headstone.

If not...

The OGS for Kawartha Lakes will have the transcripts of cemeteries in the area.  I believe they will do lookups for a small fee.

You could also try the Lindsay library

Contacting the cemetery directly would likely be the best bet

There is a book that you may want to try to find it's called Ops Land of Plenty. I will see if I can find the author etc. It has been very useful to me, my Dad was a Reid from Ops.
