Griffith EVANS born circa 1817 - Dolgellau.

I am anxious to confirm the roots of my Great-Great Grandfather GRIFFITH EVANS, born Dolgellau circa 1817. He was wed to one JANE WILLIAMS born Dolgellau 1825 in Bangor Cathedral in 1850 when he is shown to be a widower and Jane a Spinster.
They raised a family near the Britannia Bridge and resided in Britannia Cottages until their eventual deaths in 1900 (Griffith) and 1906 (Jane).
In one Census they are shown to have a Lodger, John EVANS born 1815 (Miner). Could he have been Griffith's older brother? Jane, I believe, originated from Llanwrin, Montgomeryshire.
Sought to trace Griffith and Jane's parents for in excess of 25 years without success.
Anyone out there who could assist me? - or suggest how I could acquire the required information.

There are some baptismal records for Merionethshire on familysearch.org
Have you tried there?

No info re his Father on his Marriage Cert to Jane?

EDIT, in 1851 Census arent they born c 1824/1829 in Dolgellau?

The father of Griffith EVANS was John EVANS; whereas the father of Jane was John WILLIAMS.
Griffith died Bangor (Caernarvonshire) 17.11.1900 aged 83 Years, whereas Jane died (Bangor, Caernarvonshire) 9.5.1906 aged 81 Years
