« on: Thursday 10 July 14 16:31 BST (UK) »
Hi
I`m new here
looking for information about William Todd who was married to Catherine Christie on the 25/05/1826 in Marykirk I am tracing back my bloodline and have come to an abrupt end with William I believe he was born in 1806 and his profession was a ploughman/agricultural labourer
and living in upper gallery in Logie Pert. Catherine came from North Craigo  any help would be much appreciated

Hi and welcome to Rootschat

Do you know when he died?  If he died 1855 or later, his death cert will show his parents names and his mothers maiden name

Family Search has a baptism in Fettercairn 15.12.1801  parents Alexander Todd & Betty Clark

I can't post the link to the entry as there seems to be a problem with FS at the moment but here's the link to the website

https://familysearch.org/search

The baptisms of the children of William & Catherine are all on Family Search - follow the instructions below

PARENT SEARCH ON IGI
https://www.familysearch.org

Input surname under "Last Name" and under "Restrict records by type" click on "Type" and then select births

Input Scotland under "Birthplace" and tick little box at end

Under "Search with a relationship"  Select parents

Input fathers name and surname and mothers christian name and surname

Click Search

Many thanks  CaroleW the Todd family I am looking for are indeed your reply #4 yesterday I`ve traced William Todd snr  via his son William`s death certificate which gives the names of both parents both married and mothers maiden name. His son died in St.Vigleans Arbroath. William Snr
younger daughter Betsey or Betsy married William Watson a Farmer both were laid to rest in Marykirk graveyard. There is a reference to a place called Fetteresso but I am unable to find this
anywhere could Fetteresso be Fettercairn ? I am unable to find William Snr`s death nor for that matter Cathrine his wife, I had discounted the 1851 census records as there was a 4 year difference in the ages and the family size

CaroleW spot on!

William Todd lived to a good old age - 92!   He died in Montrose 12/2/1894 - shown as widower of Catherine Christie, informant son James.   Parents given as Alexander Todd, Linen Weaver (deceased) and Elizabeth Todd, nee Clark (deceased).

No more credits left so can't check to see when Catherine died who predeceased him but presumably in Montrose.
