My 4x grt grandfather Benjamin Griffith/s was born in Llangain in 1803, no baptism has been found so far as the registers covering this period have been lost :(So I am going to NLW soon to look at BTs...
Benjamin was a Coal Merchant and Boatman...
Online there is a person researching exactly the same line as me who I have not been able to make contact to as he was researching over 10 years ago...In south Africa...
He mentioned that family lore says
The Griffiths family originated from Llansteffan where they had boats and were mariners/boatmen...
other tales which he passed on infact are true...
I have found on the census a man called
Thomas Griffith/s who was born Llangain 1798
and was living in 1851+1861 in Llansteffan and working as a mariner/boatman...
Benjamins son was also a mariner early on in his life..
So I wonder if Thomas was going back to the family nest...from Llangain to Llansteffan
Of course this is just speculation!
