A second thread on the same person - it is always best to keep the information on the same person altogether to avoid duplication.

The 1920 immigration Form 30A for Annie McCrone indicates her UK contact is her sister Mrs Sandford of Haining Cottage Renfrew. Haining Cottage Renfrew was the departure address given by Susan Sandford when she emigrated in 1922 from Glasgow on the Metagama, departure date 11 Aug 1922.

Many, Many  Thanks polarbear,

I shall get on with filling in the gaps with info you have provided . It's most kind of you to help.
To confirm what you've said ...each year the marriage details are released about 84 years in arrears ??
Is that correct ?
Do you also know if it is possible to get individual records from the registrars in Toronto ?

I am very grateful for your help
Regards
Mike

Thanks for the help Sandra. I wonder if I  then ask about Michigan Newspaper reports of William's death on a Canada forum , whether it would be relevant or that American members with the right information would see it ?

We all tend to browse threads on every board. It is very likely the US moderator has already looked but you can ask for the thread to be moved to the USA if you think that is more relevant. Unless it was an accident, there may be nothing reported.
I also agree with polarbear that the marriage probably took place in Toronto otherwise we would possibly see more references to earlier border crossings.

Perhaps an e-mail to Grosse Point Public Library to see if they could help or point you in a direction (you have the death details) - that is where the couple headed to.

Michigan Online Historical Newspapers -

http://www.genealogybank.com/gbnk/ but they usually require some payment.

You could always order the death certificate for William to see what details it gives re cause of death.

Have you ever used the familysearch photo duplication service which is free ? 5 requests per month are allowed - takes 4 - 6 weeks.

Here is link to Service Ontario that should explain how to get a marriage cert. Further down the page you find info about a marriage search which can apparently be carried out if you don't have a date. The cost appears to be reasonable. I believe you would have to meet certain criteria to apply for a record not in the public domain, however.

http://www.ontario.ca/government/marriage-certificate

For the few years that are not on line yet you could contact Archives of Ontario.

Added: to answer your question....marriages are not available to the public if they took place within about the past 80 years or so.
