Looking for the parents of Jonas Whitham born in Colchester about 1797.has anyone access to Colchester records and could help me.

No whithams around that time in any of the parishes actually in Colchester. Will have a hunt around the parishes in the Colchester district.
Jamiesons, Martins and McGonigals of Coleraine, Londonderry
and
Cullens, Grahams and Challenors of Dublin county and city.

Thanks for looking.There are Whithams in the area and it is possible that he was born outside Colchester.Im only using info on a census .

Hi. Yes, I saw the census. Nothing in Stanway, Lexden, eight Ash Green, Highwoods, Ardleigh, Mile End, Fordham, West Bergholt, elmstead. Elusive chappy!
Still lots of other nearby parishes to check :-)

Hi
checked on my discs which only date from 1813 -1851  and there are no Whithams recorded on either discs.
I know its after the period you wanted but I thought it may help narrow down your search.

Ringrose - do you have them on any census? Maybe an address would narrow down the parishes?

Don't forget to try other spellings, eg. Witham.

i've got Withams on my tree and have to check various combinations to hunt them down!  ;D

Hi, just seen your enquiry re Jonas WHITHAM.  He is my grt grt grandfather the fathe of Jonas Whitham born 31 Oct 1823 in Wakefield.  How Jonas snr came to live in Wakefield I have no idea.  I have copy of his death cert.  What is your connection to Jonas snr?  Can I help further?
