Hurdman/ Hudman
« on: Wednesday 10 September 14 10:28 BST (UK) »
Does any one have any info on Hurdman / Hudman connections. It is an obvious derivation and a cousin of mine in USA has a "link" which was made by her mum (now deceased) pre internet. It changes the view of my tree as it stands and I'd be interested in anyone else's experience or opinion in this.

Hi Trish, I'm trying to sensibly "re-evaluate" my tree.
I've always regarded it as a work in progress - I have to rely on internet a lot - and I am going to rework a separate tree back from my 2nd great grandfather. Not to try to incorporate Hurdman but to see if there is a line I've overlooked.
I was hoping that perhaps someone may be researching Hudman / Hurdman and have an idea where the name could have changed that would help it make sense.
I will follow any suggestions offered to add info that will help

Hi again,
Give us some names/dates and someone may be able to help.

Surnames seem to have gone through natural progressions or are just mistranscibed on BMD or misheard by Census enumerators.
Accents and people being illiterate had impact also.

Have you checked the Surnames Interest Table here on RootsChat?

Scroll to the bottom of any RC page, and you will find "Surname Interests" under "Your Tools".
Try Quick Search, and select the relevant initial letter, then scroll down to check any Hudman/Hurdman connections.
