By the way, I checked out inscriptions on adjacent headstones but there were no obvious leads. From census returns it looks like Thomas Underhill was a hatter who never married.
There is a 'tempting' marriage of Robert Lane to Mary Gaskel at Prestbury St Peter 19 Nov 1748 (FamilySearch).

Thanks Adnepos.
That is his marriage to Mary Gaskell.
Following generations are buried at Prestbury.
The generations before him were of Macclesfield Forest - I have their wills,
but only found some of their burials. A Richard Lane was buried at Macclesfield
May 1690, but not found any mention of an MI anywhere. 8)

Thanks Adnepos.
I have seen these before, but not had the plot numbers - Robert died 1809 was the son of Robert died 1791 at Macc. and Betty died 1813 his wife ( - where it says (sic) - not quite sure why that is there - what's the erroneous word it's signifying? Or is it me!).

Not come across a William Lane/ Laine either at Prestbury or Macclesfield, or even Macclesfield Forest (if they have been transcribed), died about 1765 have you? I feel sure he must be somewhere - he was quite a prominent man in the community - he is listed as overseer for the poor some 10 times between 1717 and 1754. I think he was born about 1690.

Hello, I'm new to the forum and wonder if anyone has a copy of the North Cheshire Memorial Inscriptions that include Cheadle?  I am interested in the inscriptions for two graves - N.24/31 and N.22/31 both in the name of Taylor.  Thank you in advance for anyone who takes the trouble to reply.

Depending on how busy they are you may have to give them a few days to reply ;)
Good luck with it.
