I have just looking thank you so much. I am getting some where now but still can't tie granny (ellen benstead) I will need to send for her birth cert as I can't find her on 1911 census. it might be Stanley was her cousin not brother.

Hi again, my thoughts are Stanley is her brother, Ellen is possibly a Domestic Servant in 1911 b Newmarket

;D I know what you mean!

Not sure if Stanley ever married, but in 1945 Electoral Rolls he looks to be the one at 150, Flat 1 Thompson & Taylor, Brooklands Road, Chertsey

EDIT Thompson & Taylor were a Motor Racing & Engineering firm at Brooklands

Well as no marriage took place between Ellen & Albert, you do not have a starting point other than the birth of Stanley Cecil, but my thoughts with all the census/electoral rolls is that it is the same family?

Hi again, if I am correct with Christopher & Mary Ann being the parents of Ellen, they look to marry 4th July 1899 St Anne's Bermondsey:-

Christopher Benstead 24 Batchelor occ Stableman abode Bury Road, Newmarket Father William occ Farmer
Mary Ann Mills 28? Spinster abode 119; Alderminton? Street Father John Mills occ Gardener
Witnesses Henry Gaddanor? Mariole? Oliver

The occupation of William Benstead was originally another beginning Ben*** but was crossed out and initialled by the Curate

What info have you on the "Jim" Scott? Was he older or younger than Stanley?
