Rickmansworth - monumental inscription look-up
« on: Tuesday 28 October 14 13:46 GMT (UK) »
If anyone has access to the monumental inscriptions for Rickmansworth, I'd be very grateful for a search of the surname RAWLINSON in the 1700s.

Many thanks

Doug

Hi Doug

Were this family of some social standing in the parish and could they afford headstones?

FindMyPast has Hertfordshire burials, there are only 5 Rawlinsons at Rickmansworth 1744-1777

Thanks, I have seen the burials on Findmypast.  Whilst I would be surprised if any headstones from the 1700s are still legible, these people were very wealthy so there may be a plaque or other type of memorial within the church itself.

Hi

If it's any help I have looked for the mention of your Rawlinson's on History of Rickmansworth sites but can't find any, there is this description of St Marys from Herts Genealogy.

http://www.hertfordshire-genealogy.co.uk/data/places/places-r/rickmansworth/rickmansworth-church.htm

You could perhaps contact the church itself, they may be able to answer your question.

Hi

Further to DawnSh's answer.

There are only 3x Rawlinson family members in the 1841 census (Rickmansworth)
Joseph, Sarah, Henry
Joseph (a Baker) "Not born in County"

Marriage
Joseph Rawlinson of Rickmansworth
Sarah Rider of Rickmansworth
Rickmansworth parish 18 Aug 1839
Birth of Henry appears in FreeBMD.

Alternative spellings may apply eg Rollenson.

HALS throws up nothing which would look to be appropriate.

Are you looking for something specific?

Hi Doug,

It's been over 3 years since our last question(s).
Although you have participated in more queries (2016),
is this now complete?
If so, just re-post adding to the title " - Complete".

Regards

Ray

I have edited Ray's comment.

Just to let you know, there should be a "topic completed" button at the bottom of each of your topics that you can use when you are happy a topic is finished with. This is mainly used when topics and titles can't be edited after 24 hours.

If you click the button by mistake, you can turn it back again as the button changes to "topic not completed".

When you have clicked the button, a green tick appears in the forum index and at the top of the topic.

Saves you having to use the "report to moderator" button or post a 'completed' reply might may be overlooked.

Hope this helps.
