Trying to work out what your saying about the census above.  I see the Owen aged 92 living with Bridget and two Patrick's.  Both seem too young to be Owen's children.  The oldest is 38 so Owen would have been 54 at the time.  I assume these are grandchildren perhaps?  The Trainor's seem to be epic on the island.  Also found there is a book about them... Doesn't look easy to get a copy of it.

I didn't realize that Patrick & Ann Jane had already passed away before 1881, sorry...I wasn't looking closely at their info at that grave site...Just at Owen's
I did find this online just now where there is a claim Patrick married again & had another son Patrick?

Too bad...It would be nice to have had an 1871 household census to see what might be on there...
In 1861 the Trainor lads on Lot 48...I suppose Ewan might be Owen then? Two upwards of 60 in household
http://data2.collectionscanada.gc.ca/1861/jpg/4108920_00233.jpg
All spellings as Treanor...and there is also a Michael on the next page Lot 48

Oh, you may be happy to know the bits on Owen are online, just found this page with many excerpts to peruse...  http://www.rootsweb.ancestry.com/~irlcav/april4/13.htm
Feb. 16,1883 "Owen Trainer continued to reside at Johnston's River untill his death. The following article appeared on page 3 of the Examiner, February 16,1883:   The death occurred at Johnston's River on February 11 of Owen Trainor, native of Donagh Parish, County Monaghan, Ireland, town land of Rarutagh, immigrated 1839 with family of 9 children. Seven still living. He has 19 grandchildren and 61 great grand children." History of the Trainor Family on Prince Edward Island 1839

Maps of Fort Augustus to peruse ( second map, say 1840 Patrick far left bottom, Michael far right, James mid...when you call them up don't make them too big or you may have too long a wait
( except the super old ones they need to be huge to see what some thing even might say)
http://www.islandimagined.ca/islandora/solr/search/fort%2520augustus/-/dismax

You can also use the search to find more...Vernon River township 49/50 scroll down for an old map, not dated though... ( I saw a Jas Ross has property) There are some extremely old maps in there...But they are really hard to read ...
If you think you see something that may pertain to family I may be able to make it clearer for you...we can discuss by p.m. just let me know

Here is his gravestone in Monaghan, Daniel 1797-1879 with wife Margaret  1821-1906...and late births of children...RACHEL SMITH | 1847-1928 | ANDREW SMITH | 1854-1936
http://www.igp-web.com/IGPArchives/ire/monaghan/photos/tombstones/monaghan-braddox-presby/target4.html

Here are Margaret (widow Farmer) and Rachael & Andrew in 1901 and also an Eliza!   they were Presbyterian. What religion were yours?

http://www.census.nationalarchives.ie/reels/nai001150243/

and here is Alex with family in 1901. He's only 70 so he is more likely another son. Also married late in life...So was Alex in the Tythe Applotments a brother? This one is too young for it to have been him ( c. 1825-1830)
http://www.census.nationalarchives.ie/pages/1901/Monaghan/Castleshane/Edenbrone/1634788/

You can look for them 1n 1911, as there is now a wife Agnes for Andrew as well...
Looks as though Alexander may have died 1905 https://familysearch.org/ark:/61903/1:1:FTFT-NT1

!!!~~~~~~~~~!!!
Realize this couple, especially is too young to be parents to your Patrick? Hard to keep up with dates.. Your Daniel may then have died before the Tithes above were taken... Could still be a rellie to Patrick, though, as he's the only Daniel I found in early Monaghan I think. Or Patrick'sents may also have moved to PEI , maybe you can find something on those old maps...

Hi,  I found a Daniel Smith in the Valuation in the Parish of Monaghan on lands of the Rt. Hon. Edward Lucas.  I also was able to follow him in the petty court system quite a bit for little things- letting his dog out without a muzzle, letting his sheep on public roads.  There were a lot of entries and the entries end in about 1867, so that's about when I assume he died.  They were Catholic, but I did find entries in the courts for a Rev. Daniel Smith as well who is someone else.  Rev. was always put at the beginning of his name and began to appear a bit later, so may have been younger.  I have attached all the court docs. to Daniel in my ancestry.com tree.  http://trees.ancestry.com/tree/13407858/person/1743586107
