Of the several funerals I have arranged the funeral director has offered to register the death, the doctor(s) sign the death cert., take this to the registrar to register the death, and get a certificate authorising the disposal of the body  ( doesn't that sound clinical) the undertaker needs this so it makes sense  for them to register the death.

Trying to sort this out:

Maurice and Henrietta D Little in Camden in 1952
In 1952 Maurice & Henrietta are living at 32 Fordwych Road, Hampstead
1960 edition (information probably gathered in 1959) No. 35 is missing, so possibly empty.
1972 Maurice listed in the Phone directory
1972 Maurice dies
1975 edition of Kelly's Directory for Cambridge the occupant of 35 Causewayside is H. Little.
So she's still there after he died.

Have I got it all? I've copied this and will see what I can add.

Mazi you think he's a funeral director?
LITTLE - Lancs, Cheshire. Dumbarton, Dublin and Glasgow - and South Africa. Also Canada

PRICE, ALLEN, JONES, JACKSON - Gwersyllt and Wrexham

ANDREWS, DOWSE, MEMERY - Dublin, US, and Canada

I think it is a possibility,  I know that my mum was in no fit state to get on the bus and join the queue at the registrars to do it herself.

mike

added,  he is   "causing the body to be cremated"  it seems likely to me

It was the 1962 Kelly's Cambridge Street Directory that I have Maurice listed at 35 Causewayside, likely to have arrived there between 1959 and 1961 at a guess.

He actually still appears at No. 35 in the 1973 Kelly's but we know he was dead by then.

My father's a funeral director and has not registered a death on behalf of a member of the family.

according to the gov.uk website

Who can register the death

You can register the death if you’re:

    a relative
    someone present at the death
    an administrator from the hospital
the person making arrangements with the funeral directors

'causing the body' refers to the person who is making the funeral arrangements

Hi Rosie,

I already had a look, he is there and oddly also at a No.35 but no indication of what his occupation/business was.
