Missing from 1901 census
« on: Saturday 08 November 14 17:28 GMT (UK) »
I have decided I must have genealogy fever!!!!!

Sorry if you have seen similar posts before but I am at my wits end. Desperate for any help !

I am searching for Lilian Clara Perry in the 1901 census. In 1891 she is in St Mary west ward with her sister ( she is in fact her Aunt!) she is a tailors born Watlington Oxford.I have her birth cert where she is recorded as Lilian Perry Clare father James William Parker and mother Mary Sarah Sissons Parker formerly Percy. ( The family changed their name from Perry to Percy we think to avoid the stigma of the birth as they had also moved house and there is no marriage to a Parker.)
In 1902 I have a marriage cert for Lilian Clare Perry to Albert Edward Deadman in St Bartholemews Reading. They both give their address as 20 Amity Street and the two witnesses are of the same address. I have searched for many months all over the country for either of them in 1901census.Were they living together pretending to be married ? Who knows as I have tried all combinations. It is not likely that they are out of the country as on the marriage cert she gives no occupation and he an Ag Lab.
Any ideas from any one ? Thank you for reading this. I just feel that they must be somewhere but of course they could be in a boarding house using a false name or some one just didn't enter them on the census !
Thank you.   ??? ??? ???

Yes,this is her. I have her birth cert and her mother was Mary Sarah Sissons Perry she is recorded on Lilian's birth cert as Mary Sarah Sissons Parker formerly Percy mother Watlington 9th November 1866.

There is a family history of name changing. It has to do with wills and inheritance. Poor old Lilian lived with the family early on.She then went to a school to become a pupil teacher (lived in) then she lived with her aunt who she knew as her sister and by the time she marries she has her grandfather recorded as her father!

By then her mother had married and produced six sons and had her will drawn up to leave her a small sum and cut her out! All very sad. We did not know she existed until about two years ago. Other family members have been researching since 1946. The solicitors had her well hidden !

What were the names of the two witnesses?

How old is Albert on the marriage?

Could try looking up that address in 1901 - if you haven't already and it doesn't exist.

Hi Millepede, if I have the correct couple in the latest census he was an Ag Lab b c 1866 Slough

Thank you to those who have given info. A family bereavement has put research on hold but it has meant I have inherited over twenty five files of copies of certificates, notes ,family trees et al so I will now start to search this as the research began in 1946 !!!! I have already found bits she had forgotten she had and had me running round in circles searching for it. She was 104 so I can't blame her.She is now part of her own history. Thank you again for your help and support.
