Hi there!
This might be a long shot but I'm hoping someone might be able to help, maybe.
I've been tracking down information on my great-grandfather's siblings and their whereabouts (at least up to 1911). Myself and my Aunt are particularly interested in finding out what happened to the youngest child of the family (and, apparently, his favourite sibling), Frances Mylchreest.
She was born (or her birth was registered, according to iomfhs.im) 27 May 1886 in Malew to Thomas Mylchreest and Elizabeth Clague. I can find her with her parents in the 1891 and 1901 censuses, but after this I can't find any trace of her. It's possible she married or emigrated, though I'm more inclined to believe she died between 1901 and 1911 [in 1911 her parents are said to have had 11 children, with 5 still living, and if my other research is correct then Frances being dead at this point fits].
The only death I can find that could possibly fit our Frances is reference to a Fanny Mylchreest who dies in 1910. This is where the trouble is though. I was almost to the point of ordering the certificate from IOM gov when I realised the date I had from Lawsons was a burial date, not a death date, and after enquiring I was told that if the date given is incorrect, the £25 search fee still applies. I'm a little reluctant to pay £35 (£10 for the certificate) for a search over a matter of days, especially if this isn't even the right Frances, but I'm having a lot of trouble finding a death date.
On Lawsons the date of burial is 24 Jun 1910. There's only the year 1910 on manxbmd.com. On familysearch there are two dates showing, though both are in the 'burial' line. One is from the Isle of Man Parish Registers, 1598-2009, and the date is 24 Jun 1910 (same as Lawsons). The second is from Isle of Man Deaths and Burials, 1844-1918, and the date is 27 Jun 1910.
Could the 24th actually be the date of her death and it's just been confused for her burial, or would the later burial date be when something was registered? Does anyone know of any other sites where I could look for a death date?
Many thanks for any help!
