Does anyone know if there are any gravestones in the churchyard please? I have looked at the church online, but it doesn't show the actual churchyard.
regards.

Hi,

At Swaffham Prior two churches stand in the same churchyard, S. Mary's and St. Cyriac's with burials situated mostly between and behind them.

128 Monumental inscriptions have been recorded mainly from headstones, only a few were illegible.

Regards,
Selina

Great-thank you. The name of the person I am trying to trace may or may not be an ancestor. His death and his age at death are about right 50, but his surname Rolison is spelt in this instance as Rollinson -Christian name John. Unfortunately he died in 1836, which means there is very little I can check-just missing out on the 1837 start, and also not making it to the first census in 1841. His wife however I know to be Rebecca, but I guess that is unlikely to be on a tombstone in this church. Thanks anyway.
regards.

No M.I. matches I am afraid.

Just in case you don't know and maybe of help if you can match relations -

The John Rollinson who was buried 11 Oct 1836, was of Swaffham Fen.

On 12 Feb 1837 a Thomas and Maryanne Rollinson of Swaffham Fen baptised a son Moses at St. Mary's.
