Is this the correct James Curran?
"Letters of Administration of the personal estate of James Curran late of Magheracar County Donegal Gentleman who died 13 September 1887 at same place were granted at Londonderry to Felix Curran of Magheracar Farmer the Father."

If so, he didn't leave "a considerable about of money to his father in his will." Letters of Administration mean that there was no Will/valid Will and his father was granted permission to settle James' estate according to law.

This record is all that survives for James Curran's estate. You could rty searching local papers but death notices for this period give little detail.

His father was next of Kin. After the death of his son, Felix the father improved his own property greatly, his death was only 2yrs after his son leaving his estate to his other son John and family in Australia. There was wealth where it came from not sure, but he Australian relatives received a big estate for the time as reported in local papers great fortune.

I have looked at papers but not come up with anything regarding James but much on his father Felix. Just today discover the occupation of james which I'm trying to track this is my main object to see if he did have wealth.

The Will Extract for James Curran shows exactly what his property was valued at when he died. If he didn't acquire his wealth through his work then he might have inherited it from a relation (wife, mother, grandparents, uncle, etc.).

Death cert say never married, in any event his estate was large for a young man of 40yrs!
