George Henry Savage - mother?
« on: Thursday 18 December 14 02:10 GMT (UK) »
George born 1887 Alcester Warwickshire. Parents show on census as Edward and Jane E(lizabeth). No problems with Edward (1837- 1926). Jane consistantly shows as being born 1842 Campden Gloucestershire which I assume is Chipping Campden not far south of Alcester. The only Edward Savage marriage with wife Jane that I can find is 1872 Aston district which shows Edward Savage and Jane Milward on same page. The only Jane Milward (1842) that I can find shows up in 1851 and 1861 in West Bromwich and she is not born in Gloucestershire.
Of course Edward and Jane may not have married and I will need to purchase a birth cert for one of the kids. Thought I would try this route first.

Is it at all possible he was a grandson rather than a son?  Only the older girl above him on the 1891 census (Nellie 7) is down as a granddaughter :-\

This might help - 1911 says married 45 years so c1866.  Early.

They are together in 1871 with two little ones.

I note on Ancestry that there were 10 baptisms in Alcester 1869 To 1885 parents noted as Edward Savage & Jane Elizabeth Savage, abode Bleachfield, Edward a Labourer. No trace of marriage.
There are also burials in the same period. However no George Henry Savage baptism only the GRO index.

He is still listed as son in the next two censuses.
