The only Birth Reg for an Emily Lathall is

Births Dec 1848
Lathall    Emily        Newport P    6   369

which seems to fit the bill.

There is probably a good chance the Marriage Reg in one of the previous posts is the correct one and so it is worth ordering the Marriage Certificate to confirm the parents etc tie in.

In 1861 living in North Crawley is Emily Lathall born 1849 North Crawley being grand-daughter of John Lathall born 1795 somewhere in Beds, together with his daughter Sarah born 1831 North Crawley - but it's only speculation that Emily is Sarah's daughter.

In 1851 in North Crawley is John Lathall b 1795 Leyton, Beds & wife Elizabeth b 1794 Brickhill & daughter Sarah 1822 & Charlotte 1833

I cannot find Emily Lathall in 1851

Well, i am going to offer up a suggestion here. She isnt Sarah's daughter but the child of another sibling. We see similar John, with Reuben Wright who has two grandchildren with him while the mother, Maud is in the workhouse.

So maybe Emily is there in 1851?

Good guess Mike; I was looking at North Crawley baptisms this morning at CMK library.....

29 Oct 1848 Emily, daughter of William & Elizabeth Lathall of North Crawley, labourer

In 1841 at Brook End, North Crawley is John & Elizabeth Lathall both born 1796 with children Sarah 1826, Mary Ann 1827, William 1828, Ephraim 1830 & Charlotte 1834.

NC baptisms of children of John & Elizabeth Lathall....
1 Sep 1821 Salley
31 Aug 1823 Mary Ann
11 Oct 1826 William
17 Jun 1832 Ephraim
27 Apr 1834 Charlotte

As to why Emily is with grandfather in 1861 is perhaps due to her parents dying as there are burials at North Crawley on 9 May 1852 of William Lathell age 25 & on 16 Jun 1852 of Elizabeth Lathall age 25. However there is a burial on 6 Nov 1851 of another Elizabeth Lathell aged 25.

In 1851 living in North Crawley is William Lathall age 26 & wife Elizabeth age 24, but they do not have daughter Emily? So the question remains, where is she?

:P One of those questions that will remain unanswered? It may be an error, someone may have forgotten to write her in, she could have been at any of her relatives houses who knows!!

There are many mysteries and some we will just have to accept we will never find the answers.
