Hi Shosh
I'm not sure you have the right Thomas Gormley. I've always understood that my grandfather came from Dublin. The census shows a Thomas Gormley living at different addresses in Dublin in 1901 and 1911, and assuming the census age is right, he was born in 1896, which fits. The census also shows his parents being Jane and John Gormley, which just happen to be the christian names of myself and my brother. I don't think that's a coincidence but wasn't aware of the link before today! My mother was Ethel Gormley, and she was born to Thomas And Alice in 1923 in Dublin. I believe the family moved to England around 1930/31 and there were two further children, Arthur and Beryl, both born in England. I think the family lived in Suffolk before London. I never heard of any connection to lorry driving, Cambridge, or the RAF. Thomas died in 1952 in Westminster. Alice died between 1960/2 in Crawley, West Sussex. Arthur died in 1963/4, Ethel in 1997 and Beryl in 2011. My Father may have known more about his in-laws, but unfortunately he passed in 1998, so there is no-one left to ask. I don't know if any of this background helps, but would be interested in hearing about any other info you have on my Grandfather. Best rgds Jane
