So true - that's why I was hoping someone who was going to New Register House would check the births for me :-)

Doesn't have to be done at New Register House. These records are accessible for one search payment at most Registry offices in Scotland.

Thanks, imber, I didn't know that. Unfortunately I'm in Australia. I know you can do unlimited searches at NRH for a flat fee - I was there in 2004 - and was hoping someone would have the time to check the births for me. :-)

Jan you could also ask for a look up request if any one is going to the Mitchell Library as they have a search room for Scotlands People
