Do you think that Blake could have been Lillian's maiden name.So Dorothy being born out of wedlock may not have fitted in to the new marriage.Maybe she had to make a huge choice.

When I couldn't find a Dorothy Blake with the profile you gave - I searched just on Dorothy.

If the birthplace of Ludgershall is correct - and assuming her age in 1911 is correct - she must have been born between 1902-March 1903.

Every birth for a Dorothy in Pewsey for that period has a middle name.  However - there is a Dorothy Dunford born in the Sept qtr of 1903 but she can be accounted for in 1911

Looking at the possible Parker marriage in 1892 Sussex  - Emily's maiden name was Knight.

No - as my reply above - I think Blake was Lilians married name.  If it was her maiden name - there would be a Dorothy Blake birth in Pewsey

She married as Parker not Blake in 1920 - and died in 1992 - birthdate given as 10.3.1903

Looking at Wiltshire births for March & June qtrs 1903 there are 2 Dorothy Maud and one Dorothy M

Dorothy M Stancombe - Malmesbury
Dorothy Maud Neave - Stockbridge
Dorothy Maud Smith - Bradford on Avon

Hi Carole.
I have found the marriage but cannot trace Emily knight.
I have also researched all the Dorothys you have listed and they can be traced through on the 1911 census.
The key maybe to find Emily Knight's family.
This is so confusing.I can't be the only one longing for the 1921 census.I really don't understand why Dorothy could have been adopted. Nor as it happens can I trace Nita or Hilda Young. All avenues seem to come to a dead end.
Thanks for you time to look.
Sue

You would need a copy of the Knight/Parker marriage cert to trace Emily back but I doubt you will find any connection.  They appear to be a childless couple who took in children

How about a very long shot of Dorothy Maud Simpkins born Dec quarter 1904 in Cricklade district.

There is also a Lilian Swain Simpkins born 1881 Chippenham, never married.
