John Badcock born c1809 Abingdon
« on: Tuesday 13 January 15 18:26 GMT (UK) »
I'm looking for a baptism for John Badcock born c1809 in Abingdon, (then Berkshire but now Oxfordshire), so far without success.

Two of his children born in Chelsea bear the names of [John] Joses and Thirza, both names crop up several times in my Badcock families which leads me to think that there may be a connection, though as yet I have been unable to find one.

You haven't said just where you've looked without success!  May I recommend the Search Services of Oxfordshire Family History Society - on the left at www.ofhs.org.uk .

Hi Jill,

The Abingdon St.Helen transcripts from the Oxfordshire Family History Society list a large number of
"Badcock" families.
Here is the one you may be after;
Abingdon St.Helens;
26-11-1809 John Badcock s/o Richard & Martha, Labr.
Hope this helps.

Thankyou Alan, I think I shall have to invest in a copy to help to untangle the Badcock relationships.
