James WILSON & Mary his wife
« on: Saturday 17 January 15 05:49 GMT (UK) »
I have the following, written on a loose piece of paper, within an old family bible ;
     James WILLSON died 16 May 1819
     Mary WILLSON his Wife died 29 december 1831
     John thire son died April 12 1831
     Ruth thir daughter died in hir infancy

I would really like to expand on those notes and hopefully identify the people, because James & Mary may be my ancestors.

I have ancestors John ROBINSON (baptised 21 May 1792 Thorney, Cambridge) who married Elizabeth (born Woodford, Northamptonshire as per the 1851 Census).
Their first born child was named James Wilson ROBINSON.
Their grandchildren included ;
Emma Wilson ROBINSON and
Wilson WARREN.

Certainly the name WILSON must have been significant in my ancestor’s family.

Regards
Grantley

You have put:

'I have ancestors John ROBINSON (baptised 21 May 1792 Thorney, Cambridge) who married Elizabeth (born Woodford, Northamptonshire as per the 1851 Census).'

So what was Elizabeth's maiden name and who was her father?

Added:
Sorry, you did not put any dates, I just saw 1851 and thought this was just after their marriage - was this before 1837?

Added:
Yes, 1851 has her born 1791, so not a very young bride in comparison to her husband.

When/where was James Wilson Robinson born?

I can find Esters Baptism in Thorney, Cambridgeshire to John/Elizabeth, abode Stilton, Hunts
And her Marriage 1841 to John Warren on F/S.
I cant find any of the other Children on 1851 Census's Baptisms though.

Trees seem to think Elizabeth was nee Wilson but I cant find cant Marriage to a John Robinson.

Trish :)

Hi everyone and thank you very much for your great help.

It certainly adds weight that James WILSON & Mary will be the parents of Elizabeth (wife of John ROBINSON) and therefore my ancestors

James Wilson ROBINSON was born 3 Oct 1816 (as per family bible) at Stilton (as per 1861 Census). Him being the son of John ROBINSON & Elizabeth.

I wonder if Elizabeth was a widow when she married John ROBINSON, she being aged about 25 when James Wilson ROBINSON was born.

I have not excluded the marriage (as per FamilySearch) of a John ROBINSON and Elizabeth GRATTON on the 18th April 1815 at St Mary’s & St Benedict’s, Huntingdon, Huntingdon, England.

Researching this area of England is new to me and you have certainly opened some doors for me.

What an excellent start to the day. :)

Regards
Grantley

Sandy,

In your replies, you referenced ;
“Alan Clarke's burial index”, plus
“the Northants Marriage Indexes”

If I want to access those indexes, do I need to purchase the CDs, buy a subscription or are they available free online.
