Criccieth???
« on: Monday 19 January 15 14:03 GMT (UK) »
Attachment is from the 1851Census.
"Ancestry" has interpreted it as "Pricerth", but I think it could be Criccieth.

Any comments please  :)

Hi Mike - yes it reads like Cricerth but I would take it to mean Criccieth as there is nowhere in Caernarvonshire known as Cricerth.

In what context is this - I live in Criccieth and was born and bred; so nice to see a query about my hometown !

Context: a fairly (well, very  ;D) remote member of the family in 1861 gives his birthplace as Criccieth in 1811.(Mind you, he was also born in 1819 and 1806, twice!!!)

I'm trying to see if I can find a close comparison in 1851 and the the attachment is part of the Search.

dcbnwh: those FS references I've seen, but I've no idea if it is the William Evans I want
