William HOPKINSON born Shirland 1837

I am searching for William HOPKINSON born 1837 at Shirland, father John HOPKINSON, mother unknown.  He married in 1864 at St. Leonards, Middlesex to Sarah FASHAM and it is this marriage certificate that gives me his age and father's name.  John HOPKINSON, the father, was a farmer by occupation.

This could be them in North Wingfield parish in 1841, although father's occupation has me doubting a bit

I wondered if maybe Emma was not William & Sarah's mother  and the family found in 1841 was the correct family - I read John's occupation as Coal Miner

Dear KGarrard, Suzard, and Mabel:
Thank you for your responses to my query.  I had looked at John and Emma HOPKINSON as his potential parents, but then I also found the 1841 census showing John and Mary HOPKINSON with a William of the right age. 

Going through some old papers, I found a baptism note for William:  27 July 1837 at Shirland.  Nothing else, no parents, nothing.  It was not something I researched and so have no idea where it came from. 

William proves to be difficult even after marriage - he appears in the 1871 census in London (which gives me Shirland) and then disappears.  His wife, Sarah FASHAM HOPKINSON lives with her father in 1881 and 1891 and states she is married.  In 1901 and 1911 she says she is a widow.  They appear to have had no children, or at least that I can find.

I will take your advice and continue to look for the parents of Sarah and Emma to see if they are the same as William's.  Interestingly enough, John HOPKINSON, in 1871 with wife Emma, both of Heage, is now a Contractor for a Colliery, also in 1881 - so back to the coal miner do you think in 1841?  Wonder what happened to the farm?

There is a baptism of William Hopkinson on 27 July 1837 at Shirland.  Parents are named as John (occupation given as Farmer) and Emma.  I can find no other children baptised with parents named as John and Emma at Shirland. 

However there is a baptism at South Wingfield of Emma on 20 February 1848.  Parents are named as John (occupation given as Farmer) and Emma.

There is the following  marriage (by licence) at South Wingfield on October 11th 1875-

John Hopkinson of full age occ Butcher and son of John Hopkinson occ Farmer married Hannah Bryan.  The witnesses were Moses Bryan and Susannah Rodgers.

Peramar:  Thank you!  I believe you found my William.  I had the date from some old notes and now I have the parents - thanks to you.  I had wondered about John the butcher and now from your message, I have a brother for William too.  Thank you too for Emma's baptism.  Daughter Sarah born c1841 at South Wingfield has also alluded me.  I'm thinking that John and Emma must have married about 1825+ and so John and possibly others not on the census with them were older and out of the household. 

If you do have an opportunity, I would appreciate the marriage of John HOPKINSON to Emma, perhaps in Heage as they were both from that parish.
