Elizabeth Daniels and Alfred Daniels
« on: Monday 26 January 15 12:19 GMT (UK) »
Hi

I am still trying to work out what happened to the children of my Great Grandfather, George Thomas Daniels (b1847). In recent threads, people have been helping me with Alice Daniels (b1869), his daughter by his first wife, Catherine Connelly, and William Daniels (b1876), his son by his second wife Mary Ann Taplin.

I would like to now seek information about another two of his children by his second wife Mary Ann Taplin: Elizabeth and Alfred.

I know that Elizabeth was born July 1878 and married George Jesse BURTON in October 1900. I also know that they were living in Weymouth Terrace, Shoreditch, as late as 1932. I cannot, however, find a suitable date of death for Elizabeth.

As for Alfred, I believe that he was born in 1879/80. But this is uncertain, a possible birth registration being Q1 1880 St Geo, H Sq 1a 478. He married his cousin Louisa Swinden in May 1902. The 1911 census suggests that they were living in Finchley. I have no idea, however, when he or his wife died. He was a skilled bricklayer. There was a suggestion that they emigrated to Canada or Australia, but returned.

I would be grateful for any help.

Any one got any ideas?

I have now located Alfred's birth. It was Feb 1880 at HM Prison Westminster and has been discussed in another thread on the Deciphering Handwriting forum.

But both Alfred's and Elizabeth's deaths remain problems.

No middle name as far as I know for Alfred. His wife was Louisa Ann, who I believe died in 1946 in Barnett. Alfred was a bricklayer.

As for Elizabeth, she was last seen in 1932 in Weymouth Terrace, Shoreditch.

Yes, that's the record I have. I can't be absolutely sure until I see the certificate.

As for the suggested 1917, Alfred death it might well be correct. Again I don't see a way of confirming it without ordering the certificate. They were certainly living in Finchley in 1911.

UPDATE

I have since found an Electoral Register for 1934 which seems to show Alfred and Louisa living at 39 Manor Park Road, Barnet. It is not clear whether the Alfred is her husband or her son. This is the same address as the 1911 census.

I would be interested to know where you found the record for the 1919 death, as I can't find it on Free BMD.
