Richard Hayter was baptised 4 Feb 1780 in Westminster son of John Hayter & Alice unknown. John a blacksmith & farrier & Alice lived in Windlesham Surrey for most of their lives. Richard married Sarah Ansell in Kilbixy, Co Westmeath on 10 Aug 1817 - this date & place from a detached page from a family bible. He was elder brother of my 3rd g grandfather Charles Hayter.
Richard was a builder & surveyor & was named assignee on the bankruptcy of his brother John Hayter a publican & victualler in 1838.
I've found more 2 documents about Richard. A poll return of 1832 of Sunninghill of Richard Hayter living 'in this parish'. So Richard & Sarah were in Sunninghill by 1832. Also a newspaper report in the Berkshire Chronicle of Saturday 25 Oct 1845 about the inquest into Richard's death.
1841 census HO107/15/3/1 transcribed by ancestry [they've done really well for a change, it's an extremely faint image but perhaps their's was clearer] starting 2nd line down on the right hand page as:
Richard Hayton 60 [you can just see 'builder'] NBIC
Sarah Hayton 53 NBIC
Hannah Hayton 10 NBIC
Hannah Hayton 3 BIC
Richard Hayton 12 BIC
Hayton 10 BIC
Hayton 35
Searle 45
Sall 65
Share 40
If in age order the children may be 20, 13, 12, 10. The Searle & Sall
could be Ansells.
Can anyone please see anything else there, like children's names? Possibly the first 10 yr old may be 20 yr old & may be Henrietta Sarah, baptised St Marylebone 1822 to a Richard & Sarah Hayter [Richard's occupation 'Trade']
. The Some members of this Hayter family did seem flip-flop between Surrey & London, St Marylebone in particular.
Unfortunately Sarah died in 1848 so didn't make the 1851 census where her place of birth would be given [there was a death notice in the paper].
Questions:
Can anyone please enhance that 1841 census image to make it legible?
Where are Richard's & Sarah's children in later censuses? I suspect they would have been born in Sunninghill, Berkshire 1818 onwards.
Can anyone find Sarah Ansell's baptism? If 53 in 1841 she was born ca 1787.
Thanks as always,
Josey
