1840s Irish family migrated to England?
« on: Tuesday 03 February 15 22:02 GMT (UK) »
Relatives of mine, David Young and Margaret Young (nee Meara) lived at Kyleomadaun in Finnoe, Borrisokane, near Nenagh, North Tipperary, Ireland. They presumably had a couple of children before parish registers began, but their recorded family begins in 1828 with Simon, who was born there. They moved West to Monsea Parish and had David there in 1837, followed by Penelope in 1840 and William in 1842. 1847's baptism of James found them back in Borrisokane, where they remained for Richard's baptism in 1848.

And then...nothing. There are no feasible death records for any of the family, no marriage records...nothing!

'Penelope Young' in particular should be easy to locate as the name combination is quite unusual in Ireland at the time. But again, I've not been able to.

There has been a suggestion that David's brother, another Simon Young, may have emigrated to Canada, but I've not found any evidence to suggest that David or his family made it there. I thought maybe they might have crossed the water in the other direction...

Can anyone help me.find any of them?

Lots of replies on the other thread (link in reply #1) but OP hasn't responded to the details found so perhaps they are no longer researching the family.

Penelope Young married James Blair- her father given as Henry Young, labourer:

I didn't notice the "other thread" reply or the age of the original post until after I posted my reply.....must have been bleary-eyed still.  :o
