visit of the Mallard Locomotive to Grimsby/Cleethorpes
« on: Friday 06 February 15 18:42 GMT (UK) »
Hi,  Does anyone know the year that the record breaking Mallard Locomotive visited Grimsby/Cleethorpes.  I think it was in the 1950's.  I hope to find a photo of it in the Grimsby Evening Telegraph records in Grimsby Central Library, as my father in law used to drive this locomotive.

Any help appreciated.

Thanks, Diana

Thank you very much Geoff.  They are brilliant pictures and the date on them also - it will save me from trawling through years of old Telegraphs and then it might not even be in there.

I'm very grateful - thank you,

Diana

Someone who knows about these things says that Mallard was considered too big (or heavy) to go to Grimsby normally, so must have had special dispensation to get there.
Today I broke my personal record for most consecutive days alive.
