Burial Place William Aimer 1840.
« on: Tuesday 10 February 15 23:49 GMT (UK) »
Im wondering would any Historical boxing buffs have any idea where the final resting place of William Aimeer is located.
seemingly in 1812 William was born in the United States to a large Gypsy family with Irish connections.
He became a renowned Bare knuckle Fighter from the age of 15,he won all his fights until 1840 when the injuries received during the bout killed him.
He was taken back to Ireland and Buried, the funeral was attended by Hundreds of Gypsies who had travelled home to attend his funeral.
Im very interested in learning more about this lad and very interested in finding his last resting place.

Hi Grizzly
you would probably be better posting this on United States as there dosent seem to be an exact location mentioned nor where in Ireland he is buried perhaps the other names mentioned in the article above might help nail him down.

I thought about that Dathai, but thought it worth a stab in the Dark posting here.
The surname is unusual, I presume that in itself would narrow my search down considerably.

Its an interesting little project though, would love to find the burial place, would definitly visit and take photos of Headstone no matter where in Ireland it is located.

I wouldn't be surprised if there isn't a headstone.

Are there passenger records from the USA to here, that chap Norett appears to have travelled over, if you could find him it would give a port and time frame.
