Hi

Can anyone help me to research John Reeves of Withington.

From PR, I have 2 possible marriages for John

1 - 17 May 1793
John Reeves (bachelor)  m Elizabeth Foreman

2 - 08 May 1810
John Reeves (widower) m Elizabeth Curtis

Is it possible to tell if this was the same John Reeves, and also did John and Elizabeth (Foreman) have a child also called John born in 1795

Any help greatfully appreciated

Have had a look at the marriage records available on Anc* and have compared the signatures of John Reeves, I would say some of the letters are quite similar and it could be the same person, although I cant see a burial for his first wife.

children  bapt. in Withington ~ no John in 1895

James bp. 9 Mar. 1794
Thomas bp. 17 Apr. 1796
Elizabeth bp. 24 Feb 1799
Sarah Freeman bp. 4 July 1802

Have also checked burials in Withington, only one John and one Elizabeth of the right ages

John Reeves aged 60 born c1768 buried 15 Feb. 1828 Withington
Abode: Foxcote

Elizabeth Reeves aged 67 born c1765 buried 16 May 1832 Withington
Abode: Foxcote

I am looking for any information, including parents names for

John Reeves b1795 in Bagenden or possibly Coates

8 Dec 1827, he married Hannah (Harriet) Kerry in North Cerney

9 Apr 1837he was buried in Coates.

Any additional information would be wonderful.

Hi Colin,
I have, this morning, checked the Bagendon PRs and there is NO record of a baptism for John REEVES, 1790-1800, on the An*****y Gloucestershire website.
You could try, via the An*****y website, and individual search, but be warned, these records were transcribed in China and cannot be totally relied upon.

Thank you for your time, it looks as though John is my 'brickwall' with the Reeves family line.

I know he was buried in Coates in 1839, but have no more definite info to go back another generation
