Nice find Shaun, which one do you think he is?  I think the one on the right as the one on the left does not seem to have an RAF uniform.

Similar uniforms but one has puttees. Brothers ?

Probably a pre-war picture in best uniform circa 1936

I would say the one on the right too.   Since the medal is his I would say it would be placed next to him on the display.   How sad all the personal belongings of he and his sister ended up as an auction lot and doesn't sound like there were any other family members around.

 The pantaloons/jodhpurs were worn with putties and we're standard uniform. The open collar tunic replaced the high collar tunic in 1936, the year he enlisted. I think the long trousers were introduced then or just before as standard.  Annette your suggestion that the medal would be placed next to him would make sense.  I just wish we had confirmation.
