Robert Joyner & Jane : Looking for their marriage

My 5x G Grandmother Jane Joyner was baptised 18th Dec 1748 at Minster in Thanet daughter of Robert & Jane. I have not found a marriage between Robert & Jane.

I am wondering if the mother's name of Jane was incorrect in the Parish Register because there were children baptised at Minster between 1723 - 1746 with parents named Robert & Anne.

Were Robert & Anne really her parents ?

Variation of the name is Joiner.

A Robert Joyner married Anne Ayles, 29 Nov 1722 at Minster Kent. Does Ayles feature in the families names at all?

At the moment i have that Robert Joyner & Anne Ayles as the grandparents of Jane. Their son Robert born 1732 being the father of Jane although he would of been just 16 when Jane was born.

The Ayles name does not feature in Jane's family.

None of Jane's children were named Anne but i see that two of Jane's children did name their first daughter's with the name Ann though.

Having a look at the births in that time at Minster I am inclined to think that Robert and Anne are her parents and it was written incorrectly in the parish register. The original definitely says Jane but there are no other records that I can see such as a relevant marriage or death that would indicate another Robart and wife named Jane having children there at the same time! My opinion is a simple "human error" when writing the baptism record.

Yes i am beginning to come to that conclusion as well. I have also not been able to find further records of Robert & Jane which would indicate they never existed.

The baptism after Jane in the Register is for Anne Cullin daughter of George & Jane. The vicar may of got the names Anne & Jane mixed up with my Jane's ?. That baptism was a week later though. I suppose both entries could of been entered at a later date though. The ink from the handwriting looks darker for these two baptisms compared to the ones above.

I agree that they both look like they were written at the same time, logic would indicate Anne is the mother, always annoying that it can't be confirmed though, Jane could have been more helpful by giving Ayles as a middle name! Very inconsiderate!

I am going to delete Robert & Jane from my family tree now.

I won't have to delete the ancestors i found of Robert & Anne though. Just bring them a generation forward.
