Cantelupe Road Bexhill
« on: Saturday 28 February 15 10:38 GMT (UK) »
I have a death certificate for my gr grandfather where it states he died at Restholme, Cantelupe Road Bexhill 1928.
I cannot make out if it is meant to be the name of a house, as he was a jobbing gardener at that time and he died whilst in the potting shed, or were there actually rest homes at that time. It is definitely spelt with the L but that could possibly be the registrars mis-spelling.

There are quite a few houses named 'Restholme' throughout the country, so that looks likely.

Are registrars allowed to make spelling mistakes?   :)

Thanks for that. At least I can assume that it was a proper name.  I expect a property may have changed it's name or been demolished or even bombed in the war. I shall have to try and see a Kelly's directory for the area in 1928
