James 'Jimmy' Hesketh. Abt 1909, Lancashire/Gt Yarmouth

I have a problem which I'm not entirely sure can be solved. My great grandfather was called Jimmy Hesketh, I believe he was from Liverpool, but I'm not sure on this. I know for certain that he died in Gt Yarmouth, I think the date of this was about 1974. I think he was born around 1909. He married my great grandmother louisa Ellen Underwood, but I think her surname could've been Varley at the time. She was born in Gt Yarmouth around 1910. The reason I think he was from liverpool is because this is what my grandfather has said, but my mum says that she's not sure about this as he didn't have a Liverpudlian accent, he had more of an accent which sounded like he was from near Manchester. So I don't really know where to start to try and solve this mystery as to who he was and where he was from. I'd really like some help

Gives his date of birth as 2nd October 1909 which may help narrow down where he was born.

That means his birth would have been registered the Dec quarter of 1909.

Looking at Freebmd there were 6 James Hesketh's registered in the country in that time period.

You really need your great grandparents' marriage certificate as that will give his father's name and then you can find him in the 1911 census.

A family tree has his birth 10 Feb 1909 in Lancashire and father (no first name) born 1875.

Wonder if it was a second marriage - as you say much later than expected?

No mention of Rimmer in the marriage, so we can probably eliminate him. So, if he was from Liverpool it was possibly the one I've highlighted.
