duke of wellingotn regiment

hi my uncle  Thomas pickton  was held pow  by the germans  he was in the duke of wellington  reg  uncle tom wouldn't talk about any of it  and had a bad time with it  he was held at stalag v111 how can I find out more  my aunt passed away not knowing anything  she said she knew never to ask as if he wanted her to know he would have told her  his experience

Do you know what battalion of the Dukes he served with, where and when he was captured? If not as mentioned Service Records are the way forward. If you can get to London you could check to see if he completed a PoW Liberation Report. This will tell you when he was captured, where, what camps he was in etc etc.
