Is this the family in 1851 Census Kent Road Civil Parish Southwark  St George
William Winter b 1812 Glambelton Yorkshire age 39
Mary Winter b 1814 Illford Essex 39
Emily Winter b 1843 Brentwood Essex 10
Aver Ann Winter should be Avis b1843 Brentwood Burial 4/1/1852 St Mary Newington Southwark age 9
Walter b 1845 Brentwood age 6 , Deborah b 1847age 4 Boxhill Sussex ..Joshia b 1850 age 1 ( Brentwood )
Samuel Winter b 1807 Glambelton Yorkshire age 44 ( Brother )

the address is Townsend St - Kent Rd is the subregistration district
on further looking at the census image I agree William and his brother were listed as being born Gamblelton - but I think it should be Hambleton???

Avis Ann reads as such on the image but has been transcribed Aver Ann and I think the son b 1850 is Joshua ???

Do you agree?

I'm guessing the parents went 1851-61 as I can't see them on the latter census. Looks like some of the children stayed behind, for a while at least.

1861 - brentwood

Michael Webster    65 - blacksmith, b Framlingham Suffolk
Susan Webster    45 - b Ilford
Arthur A Winter    18 - b Brentwood, nephew
Joshua J Winter    11 - b Ilford, nephew

RG 9,  1075, 62, 18

Arthur definitely a boy (did wonder if it was Avis mis-spelled, even if she should be dead). he's also with the websters on 1851 (transcribed as Auther on ancestry)

Arthur Halford Winter
Baptism 3 Jul 1842, Brentwood, Essex, England
Father -  William Winter
Mother - Mary

Joshua John Winter
Baptism    28 Oct 1849, Barking, Essex, England
Father -    William Winter
Mother -    Mary

The collection on Ancestry with these baptisms also have entries for Emily, Avis and an Eliza baptised in Leigh in 1849

Sarah Winter    50 - publican, married b Drayton, Salop
Walter Winter    16 - nephew b Brentwood

RG 9, 1935, 44, 29

Possibly Mary Boyton's father is David??

This is what I have found
1851 son Joshua Winter is with his parents and siblings

His full name was Joshua John Winter

Baptism Barking Essex
Joshua John Winter
Parents William & Mary

now bear with me

I think he had a brother Arthur who was with Aunt & Uncle in 1851
1851
Brentwood Essex
Michael Webster Head M 50? Blacksmith Framlingham Suffolk
Sarah wife M 42 Ilford Essex
Michael Webster nephew 20 apprentice CFramlingham Suffolk
ARTHUR WINTER nephew 8 Brentwood Essex
John Potter Journeyman 21 Blacksmith
HO107 1774 182 8

Sarah Webster was b Ilford as was mary Boyton Winter

so were they sisters?

I think so

Marriage St Ann Limehouse Tower hamlets
21 July 1844
Michael Webster of full age widower occ Blacksmith address Limehouse father Edward Webster dead
Sarah Boyton of full age Spinster address Limehouse father David Boyton dead
witnesses WILLIAM WINTER (signed) Eliza Osborn (made mark x)

then
1861
High St Brentwood Essex
Michael Webster Head 55 smith Framlingham Suffolk
Susan ? Webster (hopefully misentered) wife 45 Ilford Essex
ARTHUR A WINTER nephew 18 Brentwood Essex
JOSHUA J WINTER nephew Ilford Essex
RG9 1075 62 18

so did some of the children not emigrate with parents??
