Hello everyone.
I am new to this site and have just found this section. I wonder if anyone would be able to help me with more information regarding my ancestor James Herbert Bly. James is the son of Robert Bly (Bligh/Blyth) and Susan nee Evetts. He was born on 7 June 1881 and was baptised on 28 October 1881 in Houghton On The Hill (near North Pickenham) in Norfolk. In 1891 he was living in Norfolk with his parents and, I think, I have traced him on the 1901 census as a servant living at 2 Lochmalony Bothy. In 1913-1914 James Bly is listed in McDonalds Scottish Directory and Gazetteer as a Fishmonger at 75 High Street Innerleithen. I believe him to be the same James Herbert Bly who joined the Army Service Corps and served between 1914 and 1920.
On 21 September 1921 James married Christina Whitson Horsborough in Edinburgh, I have seen copies of the marriage documents which also name his parents. He is listed as a widower although I can find no trace of a first marriage. James was still alive when Christina died in August 1956.
I would be very grateful if anyone can provide any further information regarding James or give me any further hints on where to look. Thank you to all for taking the time to read my post.
