Hi Lynda

I have worked on a Cunniss family in Galway for a friend.

They tricky to work on as there are SO any variations of the spelling of the surname.

Just to start with ~ do you have Bridget on any census ?

Do you have her marriage certificate ?

Tara

The David Cunniss on my friend's tree was from Inveran !

Have you any mention on your records as that as a possible placename !

The surname is quite rare so It's quite possibly the same person.

The David that I have was born AROUND 1829 ~ there could be a 10 year variation either side there though.

I was working on his brother Samuel who was born in 1829 !

Tara

There much more detail given on this thread on another forum (as well as information found for it) and it looks like you could be the original poster?

The information given in 1919

Patrick Gavin, 50 yrs uncle - address looks like Costelloe, Carrarow, Galway.

There is a Patrick of similar age here:

Hi

OK I have just checked back over my records and I'm 99.9% sure that your David is the chap that is on my friends tree.

I have an 1886 record for David which shows him in DERRYNEA which is in CARRAROE.

I also have an 1883 record for him, Bridget and Samuel (my friends relation) in a courtcase.

The Samuel who was my main interest was also a shoemaker !

The family Christian names also ran in the family ~ Edward Cunniss !

This is my friends Cunniss connection !

On coincidence, David passed away in 1894 and Samuel did too !
